about

Serve Humanity

Serve Humanity Inc. is a nonprofit organization aimed to support, protect, and assist the underprivileged.

We have been operating unofficially since 2003.

We have been working alongside Latif Master Foundation, another humanitarian charity organization created and managed by some motivated people with good hearts.

100% of our donations go towards what we have promised as a non-profit charity organization, as seen in pictures and statements, from over the past 2 decades. We decided to officialize Serve Humanity Inc. in order to publicize our projects, goals, and progress, as well as share the stories of the philanthropic activities and allow more people to join the same causes.

We have distributed food and resources during natural disasters since the disastrous tropical storm that hit Bangladesh in May of 2003. We provided people with assistance to remake their homes. We have been providing talented students (that would have otherwise dropped out of school due to financial impediments) with academic scholarships for at least the last 17 years. We have created a school under the initiative “Esho Shekhi” (Let’s Learn), a learning environment for students who are unable to attend school because of the coronavirus and financial instabilities. We have distributed clothing and blankets to those that suffer from the harsh winters and during the summertime as well. We also regularly distribute full meals to homeless street kids.

Md Rafiqul Islam is the founder of this organization. He is a Certified Public Accountant with his own accounting firm, Rafiq & Associates,CPA, LLC. He grew up with four other siblings in a small village in Bangladesh named Beshorgati, in the district of Bagerhat. His father, Master Latifur Rahman (inspiration for Latif Master Foundation) taught him and his family that the road to success requires a good education. Rafiqul Islam then worked his way to Dhaka, and later graduated from Dhaka University, one of the most renowned educational institutions in the country. He has been an activist and engaged in humanitarian work since his student life in Bangladesh. He immigrated to America alone as a student in the 90's where he continued his education, became an accountant, created his own accounting firm, and made a place for himself without external help or guidance. He married Zohura Zannat in 2004, a woman that has also seen the struggles of poverty herself. He carried on his work even after bringing his family to America, and has been one of the largest contributors to Latif Master Foundation, and then created Serve Humanity to continue his work in a wider scale.

Rafiqul Islam and Zohura Zannat

Zohura Zannat is an incorporator of the foundation, and is the wife of the founder, Md Rafiqul Islam. She grew up in Dhaka, Bangladesh as the oldest of 9 children. She made it her duty to educate her siblings, carry familial duties, and give her siblings better lives. She married Rafiqul Islam in 2004, and went on to raise two children. The family immigrated together to the United States in 2009, where they continued to help the poverty-stricken to the best of their abilities. She ensured that her children, other children, and the families that she associated with were aware and actively involved in philanthropic work and activism. Her life in poverty, the struggles of family connections, and her responsibilities have given her the strength and motivation to serve the impoverished, and to ensure that the needy can see a better way of living.

Raisa Zahin

Raisa Zahin and Rayhan Zahin are the two children of Md Rafiqul Islam and Zohura Zannat, and are the creators of this website. As they grew up, they were surrounded by charity, contributions to society, and humanitarian work that their fathers' family tirelessly conducted. It eventually became a part of themselves. They felt it was important to maintain a strong connection with their Bangladeshi and Islamic roots, and were able to comprehend and act on the values they attained from a young age. They started out by collecting loose change and in 2013, Raisa (8 years old) and Rayhan (6 years old) bought clothing for kids to distribute during Ramadan in Bangladesh. Since 2014, they made it their responsibility to collect and recycle plastic (and glass) bottles, and have the entirety of the money donated to humanitarian services in Bangladesh. As their families' work continued, and as their maternal uncle secured a position in "Action Against Hunger" (and worked alongside the United Nations), their perspectives and knowledge came from a wide variety of sources. They recognize that they've started at a young age, and it can be difficult to involve the youth with charity, but are hopeful that people will recognize the importance of the work their family, as well as other humanitarian workers, do.
